District Governor - Elwyn and Allison Hodges (DG 2017-18) Rotary Club of Cleveland Born in Ipswich, Elwyn grew up in Kyogle NSW.  After leaving school, he joined the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), initially training as a Radio Technician and later graduating from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology with an Engineering degree in Communications.  He served in many engineering positions with tours of duty in Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, USA and Sydney.  He was the Commanding Officer of 492 Maintenance Squadron in Adelaide and Officer Commanding 503 Wing at Richmond NSW retiring after 33 years with the Rank of Group Captain. On retiring from the RAAF in 1998 Elwyn joined Thales (formerly Australian Defence Industries (ADI)) where he filled a number of senior management positions including National Calibration Services Manager, Technical Manager, and subsequently Head of Rotary Wing Programs responsible for a number of major defence projects including the Avionics, Mission Support and Software Development facilities for the Australian Army Tiger and Multi Role Helicopter programs and the Tiger Simulator at Oakey. After retiring from Thales moved to Brisbane in 2012. Elwyn married Allison in 1970, and they have three married children and nine grandchildren. Allison is heavily involved in Inner Wheel having served in many positions at Club and District level including President and District Chairman of A53.  She is currently a member of the Inner Wheel Club of Brisbane. Elwyn’s Rotary career started as a Charter member of the Rotary Club of Norwest Sunrise in 2001 where he filled positions as Secretary, Club Service Director and President.  He was also involved in the establishment of the Rotary Club of Rouse Hill where he was President in 2011-12.  Elwyn also served in a number of District 9680 positions including District International Chairman and Assistant Governor. He is now a member of the Rotary Club of Cleveland where he has served as Community Service Director and President (2015-16). In 2016-17, Elwyn served as DG Elect under DG Doug. Elwyn is passionate about supporting youth, particularly those who are disadvantaged. He also believes that young people are the future of Rotary and is a strong supporter of Interact and Rotaract and the Rotary Youth programs.  Membership, particularly member retention, is a priority and he believes that to survive into the future Rotary must take note of the nuances that characterise the way young people of today operate and interact. District Governor Elect - Jitendra and Nirmala Prasad (DG 2018-19)  Rotary Club of Brisbane International Jitendra was born in Labasa, Fiji and completed his Grade 12 studies at Brisbane Boys’ College in 1981. He holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Bachelor of Commerce and Graduate Diploma in Advanced Accounting from The University of Queensland. He is a Fellow member of the Institute of Public Accountants of Australia. A Rotarian since 1986, Jitendra was instrumental in the formation of and was the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Brisbane International and has also been Club President, Club Treasurer, Club Secretary and Director with other Clubs at various times. He has also previously served as Assistant Governor and District Treasurer for District 9630. Jitendra is married to Nirmala Prasad and they have two adult children, Niha and Jayshil who are both married. Nirmala, a high school teacher is also a Rotarian and is currently serving as the Effective Services Director with her club, Rotary Club of Brisbane International. As a very enthusiastic Rotarian Jitendra has also participated in the Polio Plus program in India and has played an integral part in several other Rotary projects including: Nasarwaqa School water project - Labasa, Fiji. Salove Indian School computer lab project – Labasa, Fiji. Rehab centre for handicapped orphans project - Petrich, Bulgaria. Food for the Homeless project – Woodridge, Brisbane. He is excited about the challenge ahead and looks forward to serving and making a difference to District 9630. His passion and enthusiasm to embrace, love, live and comprehend Rotary will be the cornerstone of his journey. Jitendra thrives on challenges and believes in Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy: “The best way to find yourself is to loose yourself in the service of others “ District Governor Nominee - Ros Kelly (DG 2019-20) Rotary Club of Woolloongabba Ros was born in Toowoomba in 1960. After finishing school she married and moved to Newcastle where her three children, Scott, Josh and Laura, were born. Ros returned to studies and completed her Degree in Computer Programming. Ros was an active member of the local school P&C committees and a board member of the Kindergarten Union. Moving to Canberra she worked for the ATO and continued her studies in a Graduate Diploma of Business Management and another in Project Management. She was also actively involved in local community groups. Missing the Queensland lifestyle Ros was promoted and returned to Brisbane in 2003. She also began her overseas adventures and fell in love with Italy. Back in Brisbane Ros again become involved in the community joining the Rotary Club of Woolloongabba, working with groups in the Mental Health field and an active member of local business networks. For the last seven years Ros has worked in the Public Safety area as an ICT Account and Project Manager with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, Queensland Police Service, Queensland Ambulance Service and Public Safety Business Agency. This means being lucky enough to work for and with the Queensland Community every day. Ros has been club President twice, Secretary over several years, the club’s Rotary Foundation Director, a Peace Fellow Counsellor and an Assistant Governor (AG) for the District. Being an AG gave Ros the incredible opportunity to meet and work with so many other Rotarians and clubs and was one of the best years in Rotary so far. She will also become the District Learning & Development Director in 2018-19. As a member of the Rotary Club of Woolloongabba, Ros has been active in all their community events and in particular assisting the club reinvigorate the local Gabba Senior Citizens and Community Centre. She actively helps lead their youth programs and is passionate about the Rotary Peace program. Ros finds Rotary gives her extraordinary opportunities to help both her local community and national and international projects and communities. She loves the wonderful Rotary members and friends she has met at Rotary events such as the Rotary International Conventions, District Conferences and events. Ros has a passion for linking people together and has great success in helping youth develop through mentoring, the Rotary leadership and science programs and bringing together business, youth, community groups and Rotary. To be able to combine all this and work with the wonderful clubs from the coast to the inland border as the D9630 District Governor for 2019- 20 is a gift that she will treasure and work very hard at to assist in making a difference.
